HOURS AND DIRECTIONS

Grass River Nature Center

The Grass River Center is open and staffed by naturalists year-round.
  • May - October: Open 7 days a week, 10am - 4pm 
  • November - April: Saturdays and Sundays, 10am - 4pm. 
  • The Grass River Natural Area trails are open seven days a week from dawn to dusk. 

To reach a naturalist at the Grass River Center, call (231) 533-8576.  Naturalists will be available to answer questions and give directions. 

Directions to Grass River Natural Area and Education Center
The Grass River Natural Area entrance is off Alden Highway (Co. Road 618), 4 miles northeast of Alden, 6 miles south of Bellaire and 8 miles west of Mancelona. The preserve is also accessible by boat from the Grass River dock located between Clam Lake and Lake Bellaire. We are only 30 miles from downtown Traverse City.

(231) 533-8314 from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
Office hours may be limited due to COVID.
